About Carified
We built Carified because buying a used car shouldn't feel like a gamble. Our platform gives buyers the full picture and gives sellers a way to prove their car's value — before any money changes hands.
Real people, verified
Sellers can verify their identity for a badge buyers trust. Combined with timestamped declarations, you always know who you're buying from.
Full history upfront
Car history, PPSR certificates, service records, and modification history are attached to every listing so you can research before you reach out.
Built for buyers
Mandatory defect disclosure, car history checks, PPSR checks, and seller verification badges exist for one reason: so you can make an informed decision before you ever send a message.
Our Story
Carified exists because of a bad car purchase. The founder bought a 1994 Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R interstate — a pre-inspection was done, everything came back clean, and the deal went ahead. When the car arrived, it had rust, mismatched panel gaps, and evidence of a previous front-end accident that had never been disclosed. The pre-inspection missed it. The seller knew.
That experience isn't unusual. Private and dealer car sales in Australia have no meaningful disclosure requirements — sellers can say as little or as much as they choose. Buyers are left to do their own due diligence against a seller with every incentive to stay quiet. We built Carified to change that dynamic.
The platform can't stop a seller who is determined to lie. What it does is make lying harder to do anonymously and easier to prove after the fact. Sellers can verify their identity for a trust badge buyers notice. Every defect, modification, and service history section requires either a declaration or a formal acknowledgement that there's nothing to declare. All of it is timestamped and stored against the seller's account.
Honest sellers have nothing to fear from that. Dishonest ones have a lot more to answer for.
- Sellers can verify their identity for a trust badge. Combined with timestamped declarations, you always know who you're dealing with.
- Defect, modification, and service history disclosure is built into the listing wizard — sellers must either declare or formally acknowledge each category.
- Every listing has an automatic car history check run at publish, so buyers can verify the seller is being truthful.
- A flat listing fee is charged at publish. No percentage commissions, no subscription, no surprises.
- There are no buyer fees. Buyers pay the listed price and nothing more.
- Price, VIN, photos, and all disclosed information are fully public — no account required to do your research.
- Message sellers directly through the platform once you're signed in — no need to share your phone number or email to get in touch.
How It Works
Carified connects buyers and sellers through a structured, transparent process — from browsing to handover.
Buying a Car
- 1
Browse with confidence
Every listing includes vehicle details, photos, a PPSR report, car history report, service records, and all disclosed defects and modifications — publicly visible before you create an account.
- 2
Review what's disclosed
Sellers are required to declare known defects, modifications, and service history — or formally acknowledge there are none. Each declaration is timestamped, and you can see whether the seller has verified their identity.
- 3
Arrange an inspection
We strongly encourage an independent pre-purchase inspection before committing. Sellers with nothing to hide typically welcome it.
- 4
Message the seller
Sign in and send the seller a message right from the listing. Ask questions and negotiate on your own terms, all without sharing your phone number or email.
- 5
Complete the handover
Arrange payment and pick-up directly with the seller. Once the car changes hands, the seller will mark the listing as sold and invite you to leave a review.
Selling a Car
- 1
Verify your identity (optional)
You can complete a quick identity check for a trust badge on your listings. It's optional, but buyers notice it and it means they know exactly who they're dealing with.
- 2
Create your listing
Work through the guided listing wizard — photos, vehicle details, asking price, defects, modifications, and service history. If none apply, you'll formally acknowledge that. Auto-save means you can return to a draft at any time.
- 3
Upload your docs
Attach service records, receipts for modifications, or any other supporting docs. The platform automatically runs a car history report which includes a PPSR check when your listing goes live.
- 4
Pay the listing fee and publish
A flat listing fee is charged at publish — no percentage of the sale, no subscription. Once live, your listing is fully public and buyers can message you straight from it.
- 5
Message with buyers
Interested buyers will message you through Carified — you'll get a notification and can reply from your Messages inbox. Negotiate and agree on a price that works for both of you.
- 6
Mark as sold and invite a review
Once the car changes hands, mark your listing as Sold in your dashboard and choose the user you sold it to. The platform will send the buyer an email inviting them to leave a review.
Finalizing the Sale
- 1
Agree on payment and logistics
Sort out payment method, handover location, and timing directly with the seller. Bank transfer is the most common approach for private sales.
- 2
Exchange keys and docs
Meet in person, hand over the vehicle, keys, and any physical docs — logbook, receipts, previous registration papers.
- 3
Seller marks the listing as sold
Once the handover is done, the seller updates their listing to Sold and chooses the user which it was sold to. The platform then sends you an email inviting you to leave a review for the buyer.
- 4
Transfer registration
Complete the registration transfer through your state or territory's transport authority to formally change ownership.
- 5
Keep your records
All listing docs — PPSR report, service history, disclosed defects — remain accessible in your account after the sale.
